We had a doctors appt today and Kylers platelets are down to 39,000. They have three more potential donors who they are "very interested in." So, we wont know anything about the BMT until Jan 15. Other than that he is doing good. He has 2 teeth.TOO CUTE :-) He says momma clearly and today he said dadda. It was cute because he was sitting there saying mommadadda mommadadda. Hes getting so big! 19lbs 8oz and 27 inch long. he's so sweet and so much fun! Please keep him in your prayers! We dont have another appt until Jan 15 so incase I dont update before then Merry Christmas everyone!!

  1. Hi Jill,
Good to hear that your little guy is doing well. 39K is low, but he will be okay under your vigilant care.

Great to hear that there might be better matches for Kyler around the corner. Thankfully, with him being stable you can wait for a better match to come through!! Good Luck and many prayers for these matches to be the perfect ones.

A very Merry Christmas to you to and wishing your family a healthy and joyous 2010.

    Best,

    Sumathi

  3. Hi Jill, Kyler is a beautiful little boy. Kyler's story hit close to home for me; my daughter (now 11) was born with an extremely rare bleeding disorder called Glanzmann's Thrombasthenia, GT for short. GT is also hereditary and the excessive bleeding and bruising symptoms are similar but for different reasons. Patients with GT have plenty of platelets, they just don't work. Currently, a BMT is the only curative method for GT which is why I'm contacting you. I'm the founder of the Glanzmann's Research Foundation www.CureGT.com through my work with the Foundation and on the website there have been several GT children who have undergone successful bone marrow transplants. I just thought I'd reassure you that Kyler has a great chance of finding a donor and having a successful BMT. I can put you in touch with a couple of the mom's whose children went through the same thing as you if you are interested. Otherwise, you and your family are in my prayers.
    Take care,
    Helen Smith
