We received a call from the doctor telling us that we have found a 6/6 cord and a 9/10 donor..and POSSIBLY a 10/10 donor. This news made me very happy because before all we had was a 4/6 cord and 8/10 donor. They ended up having to check registries from other areas. These people were not on the NMDP. They were, however, on a registry. We will know more in a couple of weeks and when the results come back from the possible 10/10 we will sit down and talk and then get things started.
Kyler had a GREAT Christmas. He has TONS of toys. The house is covered in them and we still havent even seen all of the family. Some people were sick so we will have to visit them in a few weeks. Other than that things are good.Ky is bruising MUCH more easily which is usually a big sign in him that his platelets are dropping again. Im just very glad he is doing good otherwise. I love him so! Please keep him in your prayers. Happy New Year everyone! :-)

  1. That is great news about the donors ...
We are keeping our fingers crossed for a 10/10 marrow donor match!
What a potentially wonderful Christmas gift.
    Best wishes,

  2. Hi, Jill. Any news about the donor? I would love to hear about the reasoning behind doing a 10/10 donor vs. a 6/6 cord blood. I have not heard of anyone yet who has had a 6/6 cord blood match!

  3. A hurricane was coming and the evacuation order had been given. As police were canvassing the neighborhood to ensure that everybody was leaving, they came across an old man sitting in a rocking chair on his front porch. “I’m sorry, Emil, but you’ll have to leave. They’re predicting that this place will be hit real hard.” Emil smiled and said “No need. The Lord will provide. I have faith in Him.” The police officer pleaded, but to no avail. He had to move on and see to other folks.

  4. A few hours later the street was completely under water and a Sheriff’s Deputy cruised by in a small motor launch. He saw the old man on the porch and shouted over to him that he had to evacuate. “No need,” Emil replied, “the Lord will provide. I have faith in Him.” The deputy also pleaded, but eventually had to move on as well.
Another hour had passed and the man was forced to move upstairs because of the rising waters. A FEMA crew in a large rescue boat was able to come alongside the roof of the man’s porch. Just as they were stepping out of the boat to assist him out of his upstairs window, he called out “No need, the Lord will provide. I have faith in Him.” Every one on board pleaded with the old fellow, but he wouldn’t budge.
Finally, a Coast Guard helicopter came thumping overhead, struggling with the winds whipping by, and found the man clinging to his chimney as the waters completely covered the rest of his house. Through their speaker system they urged the man to climb into the basket they were lowering. He shouted back, “NO NEED. THE LORD WILL PROVIDE. I HAVE FAITH IN HIM.” Since the helicopter was running low on fuel, it had to move on.
The waters rose more and the man drowned.
Up in heaven, a very soggy old Emil came squishing along, pushing to the head of the line waiting to speak to St. Peter at the Gates. “Hey, St. Peter, I’m sorry to cut in here, but I want to talk to the Lord! I had faith and kept believing that He would provide, and he let me drown anyway!” Peter brought him in before The Lord Almighty on his throne.
“Lord, I am a man of deep faith, but you let me down! I told ’em all that I had faith, and I did, and that you would provide, BUT YOU DIDN’T! WHY’D YOU DO THAT TO ME???”
The Lord looked sadly at the old fellow, shrugged, and said “Gee, Emil, I sent a car, two boats, and a helicopter!”
